Playwright Eve Ensler’s V-Day 2010 charitable presentation of The Vagina Monologues campaign event, currently under way, continues efforts and philosophy of promoting and inspiring female empowerment.
The performance, scheduled for April 10, is being hosted by the Philippine Consulate located on fifth Avenue in new York. This V-Day campaign event, wholly dedicated to the global initiative of combating violence against females, and profits from which raised funds from this year’s event will be in of support anti-violence Filipino-American organizations “JazzPhi-USA, Filipino American Human Services, Inc., and The League of Filipina Grandmothers.”
Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues is female empowerment play that launched in 1998 featuring memorable monologue performances from stars such as Rosie Perez, Susan Saradon, Whoopi Goldberg, Glenn Close, Maria Tomei, Calista Flockhart, and Winona Ryder. The play provided an openly expressive forum that embraced subjects on female sexuality wholeheartedly.
